International Power Corporation (P)Limited (IPCPL)- one of the prospective leading independent power producing company in full view of a vision to have a comprehensive, energy efficient and renewable energy solutions for meeting the power requirements throughout India, was founded in 1993 by George Sakellaris- a pioneer in the energy service business having offices in the USA.

Currently, IPCPL together with its fully owned subsidiaries has an operating portfolio of 31.50 MW of small hydro power and is poised to get into the bracket of IPPs with over 100 MWs of operating power plants with assorted portfolios by 2020.

Our Milestones

1993 – International Power Corporation (P) Limited was incorporated initially as a limited company with an objective to develop renewable energy projects.

2003 –  The 12 MW Kemphole Mini Hydel Scheme,  located on the banks on Kemphole stream, first project to be commissioned in dense forests of  Kemphole reserve forest near shaklespura, Karnataka.

2005 – Existing Kemphole Mini Hydel scheme installed capacity was enhanced from 12MW to 18 MW

2006 – Kemphole Mini Hydel Project was registered under united national framework of climate chage conventions (UNFCCC) as a large CDM project.

2008 –  The 4.5 MW Charmadi Mini Hydel Scheme located on the banks of Charmadi stream tributary of Netravathi river near Kakkinji, Belthangadi, Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka was commissioned by Trinethra Energy Conversions Limited a 100% subsidiary company of IPCPL.

2009 –  The 6.0 MW Aniyoor Hole scheme on the banks of Aniyoor stream tributary of Netravathi river near Belthangadi, Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka was Commissioned by Prasanna Power Limited – 100% subsidiary company of IPCPL.

2017 – The additional unit of 3 MW has been added at Aniyur SHP and Commissioned thereby taking the portfolio of IPCPL to possession of an operating Hydro Assets to the extent of 31.50 MW

Clientele

IPCPL has three operation hydro power projects and all the three projects are registered under Clean Development Mechanism of UNFCCC. The registration with UNFCCC is stringent certification process which emphasizes the fact that projects are implemented with best industry practices, contributes to sustainable development, are environmentally friendly and results in emission reductions. Every year IPCL generates over 70,000 carbon credits (emission reductions) from operation of its three hydro projects.

The emission reductions from the projects are purchased and utilized by corporates across the globe to offset their carbon foot prints.

Some of buyers who have supported us through purchase of emission reductions are; Norwegian Ministry of Finance, Amadeus, Fokus Zukunft GmbH & Co. KG and number of other organizations and individuals. Of which NFM and Amadeus have been the largest users of our carbon credits.

“Norwegian Ministry of Finance” is a part of the Norwegian government; responsible for planning and implementing the Norwegian economic policy and for coordinating the work with the Fiscal Budget. Norway is committed to an ambitious climate policy and has undertaken to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by the equivalent of 30 per cent of 1990 emissions by 2020. Carbon Credits from project are used by the NFM to offset the emissions generated through the necessary government operations.

Amadeus is a leader in IT for the global travel and tourism industry. It is a leading provider of technology solutions and services for the entire travel ecosystem: from searching, managing the most complex operations, building better technology, Amadeus enables travel all over the world. It is a truly global enterprise, made up of over 15,000 professionals serving in more than 190 countries, with offices across all continents. It is a publicly listed company and part of the IBEX 35, as well as stock indices worldwide. Carbon Credits from IPCL project are used by the Amadeus to offset the emissions generated through their operations and management of data centre.

A number of other companies and individual have used the carbon credits from our projects to offset their carbon footprints on voluntary basis. It gives us utmost pride to have been able to provide carbon credits to tens of companies.
